Aim
Our Occupational Therapy Assistant programme provides the knowledge and skills to work with a physiotherapist to assess and treat people whose movement is restricted by injury, illness, or age. Learn techniques to help with injuries and disorders of muscles and joints. This programme is designed for those interested in working as healthcare professionals. Gain work experience in the field and learn techniques to assist physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
Entry Requirements
An interest in working as a Healthcare Professional. Work experience in the area would be an advantage.

Additional Training
Occupational First Aid and Patient Moving & Handling is also offered.
Work Experience
Supervised clinical experience in nursing homes, hospitals, and other health facilities is incorporated into this course. This will take the form of one day per week for the academic year
Students will be required to undertake Garda Vetting procedures prior to work placement.
Career Opportunities
Our programme provides the Department of Health’s recommended qualification for all Healthcare Assistants working in the public and private sector. Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy assistants can work in any healthcare setting under the supervision of qualified physiotherapists or occupational therapists.
Progression
Graduates who achieve the required standard may progress to further studies in the FET sector at level 6 or to IT Colleges/Universities through the Higher Education Links Scheme as outlined in this brochure.
