Aim
This Level 6 part time course is designed for those looking to advance into supervisory and management roles within the healthcare sector. The Health Services Supervisory Management course provides students with the skills and knowledge required to take on leadership positions in healthcare settings, with a focus on managing teams, improving work processes, and ensuring quality care delivery. The course is ideal for graduates of Level 5 healthcare programmes and those currently working in healthcare who wish to upskill.
Entry Requirements
- Level 5 QQI Certificate in a healthcare-related field (or equivalent)
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in other relevant field at NFQ Level 5 (or equivalent)
Part Time (BTEI)
The Back To Education Initiative (BTEI) provides part-time further education courses. It gives individuals the opportunity to combine learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Anyone who has left full-time education can take part in a course. Certain participants are eligible for free tuition.
The participants eligible for free tuition are people who (or their dependants):
- Have less than upper-second level education or
- Are getting a jobseeker’s payment or means-tested social welfare payment or
- Are getting Working Family Payment (formerly known as Family Income Supplement or
- Have a medical card or
- Are eligible to participate on VTOS or Youthreach.

Assessment and Certification
Learners are assessed through a combination of assignments, projects, and work-based assessments. On successful completion of the course, participants will receive a component certificate and can go on to complete year two to be awarded a QQI Level 6 qualification in Health Services Supervisory Management Skills (6M4978).
