QQI Level 5 – Sustainability & the Built Environment (Construction Technology) 5M5010
DURATION
1 year Full-time

Aim

Join our Sustainability & the Built Environment programme and explore the core principles of sustainability in construction. Learn about the detrimental environmental impact of traditional building and the rationale for a more sustainable approach as a response to climate change. Become familiar with environmentally responsible and resource-efficient processes throughout a building’s lifecycle – conception, design, construction, operation, and maintenance. Our programme includes a range of elective and core modules such as landscape construction and maintenance, sustainable water management, building construction, renewable energy systems, and environmental studies. You’ll also gain valuable design skills and work experience through architectural drawing and two weeks’ work experience placement.

This course facilitates the learner in acquiring the knowledge, skill, and competence required to work independently and under supervision in a range of construction industry contexts, or to progress to further and/or higher education and training.

Entry Requirements

  • Leaving Cert or its equivalent is advised.
  • Mature students are welcome to apply. Work/life experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
