Aim

If you have a strong interest in IT, enjoy exploring gadgets, smart phones, and tablets, and are technically-minded, our Digital Systems Engineering course might be for you! This hands-on course aims to provide students with the opportunity to design, develop, secure, and test IT systems components for computer network systems. Our graduates are highly regarded by employers, and many have gone on to work for household name companies.

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate or equivalent is advised, with a minimum of a pass in Mathematics at Leaving Cert or its equivalent preferable. Mature students with work/life experience will also be considered in lieu of formal education.

Career Opportunities

The purpose of this course is to equip learners with the fundamentals to install, configure, and maintain computer systems and basic networks under supervision, leading to employment in a range of sectors. Our graduates are well-prepared for junior positions in IT and computer networking, with opportunities for advancement and further education. Employers often provide training for new entrants to develop their skills further.

Progression

On successful completion of this course students can progress to Computer Systems & Networks QQI Level 6 available in the College where they will expand their knowledge in the area of Internetworks, broadband and advanced operating systems, wireless networks, ISP technologies, multimedia technologies etc.

Graduates who achieve the required standard may also progress to further studies to Institutes of Technology and Universities.  Examples of progression courses include:
