Aim
Are you ready to unleash your creativity and take your passion for art to the next level? Our QQI Level 6 Art course is designed to provide you with a broad education base in ceramics and fine art. You’ll have the opportunity to explore new ways of working and expand your practice in drawing, painting, and ceramics while making connections between all three mediums.
Throughout the course, we place emphasis on drawing and the design process, allowing you to develop your own unique studio practice.
Entry Requirements
Are you a creative person with a strong interest in art, design and ceramics? Our QQI Level 6 Art course is the perfect fit for you! We welcome students who have completed Level 5 Art, Craft, and Design or who present a portfolio of work that demonstrates their competency at that level. For mature students, work experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Studio Practice
Our QQI Level 6 Art programme includes 160 hours of studio practice, where you’ll produce a range of crafts items and have the opportunity to put on a craft exhibition.
Work Experience
Two weeks of work experience is incorporated into this course, giving you the opportunity to gain real-world experience and prepare for your future career.
Employment Opportunities
Our QQI Level 6 programme equips you with the relevant work experience to pursue a range of career paths, including self-employment and freelance textile artists, commission work, designers and makers of craft objects. If you’re more business-focused, you can work as design consultants in the retail area, buyers, and sales personnel.

At our college, we are committed to helping you achieve your career goals. Our Career Guidance Counsellor is available to advise you on the various progression options through the Higher Education Links CAO scheme. Examples of progression courses include Fine Art (TUD974) and Visual Art, Sherkin Island (TUD TU977) at TU Dublin, Art (IADT DL827) at IADT, and Art and Design (Portfolio) (NCAD AD101) at NCAD.
