Aim

This course offers students the opportunity to acquire a major QQI level 5 award in Art and Design 5M1984, focusing on designing materials necessary to create a cohesive event.

The course is taught through practical demonstrations and practice which will give students the opportunity to design and make a wide range of unique pieces using a range of different media and materials. Students will learn how to be resourceful with their creations, while learning the practice skills of fine art and design. Emphasis throughout the course is places on drawing, design and event production.

Entry Requirements          

  • Leaving Cert/Leaving Cert Applied or its equivalent. 
  • For mature students, work experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Creativity and an interest in design and events is an advantage.

Work Experience

Two weeks’ work experience is incorporated in this course and will take the format of students planning, preparing and implementing and event such as an exhibition of their work or working with an event organiser.

Employment and Progression Opportunities

Graduates may choose to work in the area of design or become sole traders.

Graduates who achieve the required standard may progress to further studies in Technical Universities through the Higher Education Links scheme including IADT and NCAD.
